Geography - Climate and Weather
Selangor has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging around 20 to 30C. It is located at the west coast
of the Peninsular of Malaysia where monsoon rains usually takes place around November to February. During
non-monsoon season, Selangor is usually hot and dry during the day and rather cooling at night. The temperature
throughout January during the daytime will reach about 32C and about 22C during the night time.
Selangor is the home of a plethora of shopping malls. To cater everyoneâ€™s shopping needs, there are malls like
the One Utama Shopping Mall, The Curve, Ikano Power Center (IPC) and Tropicana City Mall which are located in
Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The One Utama Shopping Mall has a wide range of shops for dining, fashion, entertainment
and much more. It even houses the largest indoor rock climbing gym too. The Curve is a great place to meet up
with friends and have a drink as this place has the perfect ambiance for meet ups. The variety of restaurants here
are too good to be true. Shopping can also be done here. The Curve is joint to the Ikano Power Center and Ikea
Furniture Store via a bridge. One very unique shopping mall would be the Sunway Pyramid which is built to look
like the pyramids in Egypt. The mall is large and houses many kinds of places to dine, shop and relax. Other
malls include The Mines Shopping Mall, Amcorp Mall, Empire Shopping Gallery and the largest of them would be
the Midvalley Megamall. Amcorp Mall has a very unique flea market on the weekends where you can find rare
antique pieces. If you are a fan of antiques, be sure to drop by at Amcorp Mall during the weekends.
Dining / Restaurant
A trip to Selangor would not be complete if it does not involve dining at the various eating places here.
Selangor has myriads of places to eat. There are plenty of Japanese Buffets such as the Shogun Japanese Buffet,
Tenji Japanese Buffet, Tao Japanese Buffet and Kampachi Japanese Buffet. Seafood restaurants are also easily
found in Selangor. The more famous seafood restaurants are the Fatty Crab Restaurant and the Damansara Village
Steamboat. There is also Balinese food at restaurants like Bumbu Bali and Ole Ole Bali. For authentic Korean
food, get to Ampang, Selangor. There are plenty of Korean restaurants in the area.
Selangor has many outdoor activities to do. There is the famous Sunway Lagoon Theme Park that has the water
park and also other theme parks in it. It also has a mini zoo in it. Another famous place for water sports is
the Puchong Water Sports Village. Here you can also rent a unit to stay over and have barbeque with your friends.
There is also the Desa Water Park too. Other than these water parks, there is also the famous Batu Caves where
there is a large gold statue of the God worshipped by the Hindus. There is also the Bukit Cahaya Shah Alam where
you can cycle and challenge yourself at the obstacle courses available here. There are three types of packages
available here. This is a great place to go with a group of friends.
Public transport is easily found all around Selangor. You can either opt for taxis, buses and trains to move
around in the city. Taxis would be the more expensive option while the buses and the trains are the more
economical option to pick. If you have your own transport, it would be better but do prepare for traffic
jam especially during peak period.
